Sales Channel Table

The SAWS Sales Channel Table (formerly known as SC::Channels) is a component in the PIM included in the SAWSConnector suite. It enables detailed sales channel management for products which is implemented for fast processing and frequent updates. External updates such as Excel/CSV imports or REST API are supported and encouraged.

This video covers the basics of the sales channel management. It is in German and was created in 2018, so the user interface might not resemble yours, but the functionality is the same.

Activation

The sales channel table can be enabled in the Centric PXM settings in “SAWS > General > Sales Channels”. After enabling the sales channel table for the first time, a data model update must be performed since it adds an additional table in the database.

Once the sales channel table is installed, its rights must be enabled for the intended roles in “General > Advanced User Management > [Role] > SAWS > Base Connector”!

The settings are listed and explained in the following.

Manage Sales Channel in SAWSConnector

Enables the sales channel table for your PIM.

Copy the contents of the sales channel table with when product is duplicated

Controls whether the sales channel table entries are copied with the copied product. The sales channel table is a separate database table from the product attributes in order to support the frequent updates. This means the entries will be copied in this table.

Automatically create unknown entries for the name and the status of the SC::Sales Channel

The sales channel names and states are managed in the PIM value lists “SAWSConnectorChannels” and “SAWSConnectorChannelStates” which are auto-installed into your system. These are encouraged to be altered and extended to your needs.

This setting controls whether to automatically create new sales channel names and states for unknown ones in the Excel/CSV import.

Extend Sales Channel Table with these Attributes as Columns

The sales channel table can be extended with additional fields based on PIM attributes. Since this is a change in the data model and the sales channel table already has an extensive list of fields that covers most use cases, we recommend to only use this feature if it is really necessary.

Index these fields

The sales channel table already contains useful indices for quick database searches. This option allows indices to be added to the additional fields defined in “Extend Sales Channel Table with these Attributes as Columns”.

PIM Appearance

The list of all sales channels is located here in the PIM.

The sales channels of a product can also be displayed and edited by assigning the sales channel table attribute to your according product classes. (One will be auto-installed but feel free to create one of your own if you wish to do so.)
