Stock Table

The SAWS Stock Table (formerly known as SC::Stocks) is a component in the PIM included in the SAWSConnector suite. It enables detailed stock management for products which is implemented for fast processing and frequent updates. External updates such as Excel/CSV imports or REST API are supported and encouraged.

Activation

The stock table can be enabled in the Centric PXM settings in “SAWS > General > Stock”. After enabling the stock table for the first time, a data model update must be performed since it adds an additional table in the database.

Once the stock table is installed, its rights must be enabled for the intended roles in “General > Advanced User Management > [Role] > SAWS > Base Connector”!

Copy the contents of the stock item table with when product is duplicated

Controls whether the stock table entries are copied with the copied product. The stock table is a separate database table from the product attributes in order to support the frequent updates. This means the entries will be copied in this table.

Extend Stock Table with these Attributes as Columns

The stock table can be extended with additional fields based on PIM attributes. Since this is a change in the data model and the stock table already has an extensive list of fields that covers most use cases, we recommend to only use this feature if it is really necessary.

Index these fields

The stock table already contains useful indices for quick database searches. This option allows indices to be added to the additional fields defined in “Extend Stock Table with these Attributes as Columns”.

PIM Appearance

The list of all stock entries is located here in the PIM.

The stock entries of a product can also be displayed and edited by assigning the stock table attribute to your according product classes. (One will be auto-installed but feel free to create one of your own if you wish to do so.)

Fields

Linked product

The product or item this stock entry refers to. Select or enter the name/ID of the product from your inventory.

External Key

A unique identifier or reference code for this stock entry, often used for integration with external systems (e.g., supplier codes, barcode numbers).

Amount

The physical quantity of the product currently available in stock. Enter the exact number of units on hand.

Virtual Stock Amount

The theoretical or expected stock quantity, which may include pending deliveries or reserved items. This helps track stock that is not yet physically available.

Send virtual stock amount if activated

Enable this option to include the virtual stock amount when sharing stock levels with sales channels or external systems. Useful for pre-orders or backorders.

Minimum order quantity

The smallest quantity of this product that can be ordered at once. For example, if the minimum is “5,” customers cannot order fewer than 5 units.

Minimum reserve quantity

The lowest stock level you want to maintain to avoid stockouts. When stock falls below this number, you may receive alerts or automatic reorder suggestions.

Sold

The total number of units of this product that have been sold. This field is usually auto-updated but can be manually adjusted if needed.

Ordered

The number of units currently on order from suppliers or in transit. This helps track incoming stock.

Notify amount

The stock level at which you want to receive a low-stock notification. For example, set to “10” to be alerted when only 10 units remain.

Unit

The base unit of measurement for the product (e.g., piece, kilogram, meter). Select the appropriate unit from the dropdown menu.

Storage unit

The specific container, bin, or location where the product is stored (e.g., “Shelf A-3” or “Warehouse B, Bin 12”).

Area

The broader storage area or zone where the product is located (e.g., “Warehouse North,” “Cold Storage,” or “Retail Floor”).

Delivery time

The estimated time it takes to deliver this product to customers after an order is placed (e.g., “2-3 business days” or “1 week”). This helps set customer expectations.

Data Import

It is a very common use case to import data into the stock table from external sources. This is covered in this article.
