Complex Article Table

The SAWS Complex Article Table (formerly known as SC::Complex Articles) is a component in the PIM included in the SAWSConnector suite. It enables detailed complex article management (variants, bundles, links, etc.) for products which is implemented for fast processing and frequent updates. External updates such as Excel/CSV imports or REST API are supported and encouraged.

Activation

The complex article table can be enabled in the Centric PXM settings in “SAWS > General > Complex Articles”. After enabling the complex article table for the first time, a data model update must be performed since it adds an additional table in the database.

Once the complex article table is installed, its rights must be enabled for the intended roles in “General > Advanced User Management > [Role] > SAWS > Base Connector”!

The settings are listed and explained in the following.

Creates a standardized data model for complex products (grouped/bundle, variants or configurable products)

Enables the complex article table for your PIM.

Copy the contents of the complex article table with when product is duplicated

Controls whether the complex article table entries are copied with the copied product. The complex article table is a separate database table from the product attributes in order to support the frequent updates. This means the entries will be copied in this table.

Extend Complex Article Table with these Attributes as Columns

The complex article table can be extended with additional fields based on PIM attributes. Since this is a change in the data model and the complex article table already has an extensive list of fields that covers most use cases, we recommend to only use this feature if it is really necessary.

Index these fields

The complex article table already contains useful indices for quick database searches. This option allows indices to be added to the additional fields defined in “Extend Complex Article Table with these Attributes as Columns”.

PIM Appearance

The list of all complex articles is located here in the PIM.

The complex articles of a product can also be displayed and edited by assigning the complex article table attribute to your according product classes. (One will be auto-installed but feel free to create one of your own if you wish to do so.)

Fields

Linked parent product

The main or “master” product to which this variant or related product is assigned. Select the parent product from your PIM.

Linked product

The specific variant, accessory, or related product being assigned to the parent product. Select the product from your PIM.

Quantity

The number of units of the linked product included in this assignment. For example, if the parent is a “Gift Set” and the linked product is a “Candle,” enter “2” if the set includes two candles.

Changeable quantity

Enable this option if the quantity of the linked product can be adjusted by the customer (e.g., customizable bundles). Disable if the quantity is fixed.

Default

Mark this option to set the linked product as the default selection for the parent product. Useful for pre-selected variants or recommended accessories.

Disable product

Enable this option to temporarily remove the linked product from the assignment without deleting it. The product will not appear as an option for the parent product.

Sort Order

Determine the order in which this linked product appears relative to others in the same assignment. Enter a number (e.g., “1” for first, “2” for second).

Type of the relation (set, bundle, accessories, etc…)

(Since version 1.17.0)

Specify the nature of the relationship between the parent and linked product. The relation type enables the population of multiple complex article tables for example for bundles and variation relations. The list of link types can be extended in the value list “SAWSConnectorLinkTypes”.

Data Import

It is a very common use case to import data into the complex article table from external sources. This is covered in this article.
