SAWS Create CS Channels via SAWS Sales Channels
What the job does
The job creates and maintains a channel tree (the structure formerly referred to as the view tree) based on the Sales Channels assigned to your products. For every product that holds an entry in one of the selected Sales Channels, the job creates a corresponding node in the channel tree, assigns the appropriate workflow status, synchronises the product name across all languages, and removes nodes that are no longer required.
When to use the job
Run the job whenever the channel tree should reflect the Sales Channel assignments stored on your products. It can be started manually or scheduled to run automatically. Using the job removes the need to build and maintain the channel tree by hand and keeps the tree consistent with the product data.
Prerequisites
Before running the job, ensure that the following are in place:
- A channel tree with a defined root node under which the products should be placed.
- Products that contain Sales Channel entries (SC Sales Channels).
- The workflow states that should be used within the channel tree.
Settings
The following settings are available when configuring the job. Required fields are marked accordingly in the editor.

Name of the SC Sales Channels used for the view creation
Select one or more Sales Channels. The job processes only products that hold an entry in the selected channels. This field is required.
Assign in addition to selected views
Optional. Select one or more additional parent nodes. Every product processed by the job is placed under these nodes in addition to the locations derived from the product itself. When more than one entry is selected, the order is relevant, and the first selected Sales Channel determines the status.
Mapping of the SC Sales Channel status to the view workflows
This table defines which workflow status a node receives, based on the status of its Sales Channel.
Defining a mapping row
In the left column, select a Sales Channel status (for example “active”). In the right column, select the workflow status that the corresponding node in the channel tree should receive (for example “Channel Workflow Online”). Add as many rows as required.
The “Delete channel” option
The right column also provides the option “Delete channel”, which removes a node based on the status of its Sales Channel. This behaviour is described in the section “Removing nodes from the tree”.
Default Channel Status for all unmapped Sales Channel status
Optional. If a Sales Channel has a status that is not listed in the mapping table, the node receives this status instead. This avoids the need to list every possible status individually. The “Delete channel” option can also be selected here.
View status for expired Sales Channels
Optional. A Sales Channel can have a validity period. Once this period has passed, the channel is considered expired. This setting determines how the node of an expired channel is handled. The node can be assigned a dedicated status, or the “Delete channel” option can be selected to remove it. If this field is left empty, expired channels that were never created before are skipped.
Removing nodes from the tree
Removal by unassigned link
If a product no longer references a location in the tree because the link or assignment was removed, the corresponding node is deleted. This behaviour is applied automatically.
Removal by status
A node can also be removed based on the status of its Sales Channel. To enable this, select the “Delete channel” option in one of the workflow status fields.
Report messages
During a run, the job writes status messages to the report. The most common messages and their meaning are listed below.
| Message | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Sales Channels with the given name are collected / X Sales Channels found | The selected channels were found. |
| No Sales Channels with the given name found | No channels matched. Review the channel selection. |
| X channels found in the given Sales Channels | The number of changes prepared by the job. |
| Channel created/updated | A node was created or updated. |
| Removed deprecated products | Nodes that are no longer required were removed. |
| No status mapping given / No workflow status for the SC Sales Channel found | The status mapping is missing or incomplete, so a status could not be determined. Review the mapping table and the default status field. |
| Root node could not be found | The root node is invalid. The job stops. |
| No Sales Channels selected | The channel field is empty. The job stops. |
Example
A company distributes products through the Sales Channel “Germany”. Active products should appear in the channel tree with the status “Online”, while archived products should be removed.
- Under “Name of the SC Sales Channels”, select “Germany”.
- In the status mapping, add a row that maps the Sales Channel status “active” to the workflow status “Online”.
- Add a second row that maps the Sales Channel status “archived” to “Delete channel”.
- Save the configuration and run the job.
After the run, all active products from the “Germany” channel appear in the tree with the status “Online”, and archived products have been removed.
